Additional Information

I was born in Harrow and attended Belmont secondary school started work and became a Underwriter and after nine years left the City of London and to be involved with the fire safety industry, appointed as assistant to the Managing Director of a group of 43 companies was responsible for budgeting and marketing of nine of those businesses. I am still working as a fire safety consultant advising on fire and bomb emergency procedures and have lectured on these subjects throughout the country.

Moved to the Swale area over 40 years ago and am married to Mavis with two stepchildren.

Having been and still am a Bobbing Parish Councillor for many of years I was extremely pleased to have been elected as Borough Councillor for the Grove Ward eight years ago and in 2011 and invited to be a member of the Cabinet holding the portfolio for finance.

I am very concerned about the issues affecting Grove Ward which include Travellers occupying  illegal sites at Bobbing Hill and Staplehurst Road and the Meads to name but a few, fly-tipping, highways issues including illegal and inconsiderate parking, safety issues on the roads which I believe should be resolved before injury or worse still fatalities. New housing-infrastructure not in place before constructing houses. Fly tipping and rubbish are a constant problem.

I was pleased to be the Chairman of Governors at St Peter's Catholic Primary School for over 12 years.

My hobbies include reading, theatre, concerts, cooking and involvement with the Church and its associated organisations. (Since 1999 I have been a Minister of the Holy Eucharist at the Church of the Sacred Heart).  I am a past chairman of both the Church Parish Council and Church Finance Committee. I was a founder member of the Brenchley House Amateur Theatre Group and a past member of the Players Theatre in London.

I have a strong desire that Swale should be a safe and pleasant area to live in and to maintain the green belt and public open areas.

All Members have a Localism Grant, which is a funding opportunity designed to support small-scale, local community projects. For more information and to download the application form please see our members-localism-grants page.
