A meeting of the Swale Rural Forum will be held in the Warden Bay Village Hall, Warden Bay Road, Warden, Isle of Sheppey on Tuesday 14 June 2011 at 7:00pm.

To approve the Minutes of the Meeting held on 9th March 2011 (Minute Nos. 717 - 723) as a correct record.

During public session, members of the public living in the Borough of Swale may make a statement, submit a petition, or ask the Chairman any question on any matter on which the Council has powers or duties, in respect of rural matters.

Questions or statements shall be read at the meeting and shall not last more than three minutes.  An answer from the Chairman may take the form of a direct oral answer or be in writing.  Questions submitted to the Democratic Services section in writing (including email) at least three days before the meeting will be taken first.

hedgecutting issues


Report for Item 8

To discuss the impacts on road surfaces caused by landowners cutting back hedges too severely.  This issue was raised at the previous meeting by Beverley Willis (Bredgar Parish Council) who has supplied photograph evidence which is attached.

rural businesses engagement with the education system



To consider and discuss how rural businesses engage with the education system and take advantage of apprenticeship schemes.

action plan



The Action Plan was originally produced in 2008 following a workshop session where the Rural Forum decided some guidance was needed to determine a 'way forward' and to ensure the Forum doesn't become stagnant.  Rural Forum members are kindly asked to consider what actions could be carried out by the Forum to highlight rural issues.  For example the site visit organised by the National Farmers Union to Gaskains Farm in Summer 2009 highlighted polytunnels.
