The Chairman opened the meeting by introducing the Sub-Committee and Officers present. He highlighted an error on the Agenda and confirmed that Councillors Sandra Garside and Anita Walker would be taking part in the meeting and not Councillors Prescott and Woodland. He explained that the Sub-Committee would consider a variation of the Premises Licence for The Charcoal Grill, West Street, Sittingbourne and detailed the procedure that would be followed.

application to vary premises licence under the licensing act 2003

Mr Bond referred to the report and explained that the application had to be taken on its own merits with regard to licensing law and that planning law was a separate issue which was not applicable to this case. He considered the planning history of the premises to be irrelevant and that it did not stand as evidence.

Mr Bond brought to the Sub-Committee's attention that there had been no objections from the Police and Environmental Health with regard to this application. He considered that the five year old planning history should be disregarded, as it was irrelevant and that no complaints had been received from neighbours.
